　　英语中，either是个非常活跃的词，在句中可用作形容词、代词、副词和连词。

　　一、用作形容词，表示“这个或者那个”，只能修饰单数名词。如：

　　Either idea will be useful. 两个主意中的任何一个都会有用的。

　　Either knife is good. 两把小刀中的任何一把都是好的。

　　二、用作代词，表示“二者之一”(one or the other of the two)。如：

　　Either of the two books is worth buying. 这两本书中任何一本都值得一买。

　　He has two pictures, but he doesn’t like either. 他有两幅画，但他哪幅都不喜欢。

　　【友情提示】

　　either of+名词或代词的复数形式作主语时，谓语动词一般用单数，同时复数名词前须有限定词。如：

　　Either of the answers is right. 两个答案都对。

　　Either of the workers can finish the work well. 两个工人中任何一个都能很好地完成这项工作。

　　三、用作副词，表示“也(不)”，只用于否定句中。如：

　　He didn’t want to go there. I didn’t want to go there，either. 他不想去那里，我也不想去。

　　That book isn’t interesting. This one isn’t interesting，either. 那本书很无趣，这本书也一样无趣。

　　四、用作连词，表示“或者……或者……;不论……还是……”，一般只用于“either…or…”结构中。如：

　　Either you leave here or I’ll call the police. 你要不离开这儿，我就去叫警察。

　　Either you or he is right. 不是你对就是他对。

　　友情提示

　　1. 当“either…or…”连接主语时，谓语的人称、数要跟最靠近的一个主语保持一致。如：

　　Either you or he is going to Shanghai next month. 下个月要么是你去上海，要么是他去。

　　Either you or I am wrong. 不是你错，就是我错。

　　2. either和not连用表示完全否定，意为“两者都不”。如：

　　I don’t want either of them. 我两个都不想要。
